Ricard Observatory is named after Jerome Ricard, S.J., a meteorologist who was most famous for his sunspot theory of weather forecasting and was known as Santa Clara’s “Padre of the Rains.” Today, the Observatory houses Archaeology, which provides documents about the history of Santa Clara University.
