Campus Safety officers, while trained in basic emergency care, are not a substitute for advanced life support.  In any medical emergency where there is an immediate danger to life, dial 911 without delay.  The first two questions from 911 will be the phone number you are calling from and your location, be prepared to share this.  Once 911 has been called, that person will likely be on the phone receiving life saving instruction from the operator; please have someone else contact the Campus Safety Emergency Line at 408-554-4444.  If someone calls Campus Safety first, Campus Safety will likely direct that person to also call 911 if the situation dictates.  There is no wrong order.  Calling both will afford Campus Safety the ability to assist emergency personnel with getting emergency services to the patient without delay.

The Emergency Call Boxes have been placed throughout campus for use in any situation in which the services of Campus Safety are required. They can be used to report emergencies, request an escort across campus, report possible crimes, or any other situations which you deem appropriate. The call boxes provide a direct line of contact with the Campus Safety dispatch, which are available 24 hours a day.

The Campus Safety Office is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you contact Campus Safety at any time, they will respond to you. There are no contracted security officers on campus; they are all Santa Clara University employees.
